Dr. Kirstin Young
I was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ and grew up with a menagerie of different animals. We had dogs, cats, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, an iguana and a pot bellied pig named Cleo. I have always had a great love of animals and people. This is what has driven me throughout my life to become a veterinarian. I wanted to foster that relationship people have with their pets. I knew by keeping their beloved pets happy and healthy that I would be helping people as well.
I graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1993. I went on to attend Veterinary School at Colorado State University and graduated in 1997.
I spent my first 6 years as a veterinarian in Kingman, AZ where I really enjoyed getting to know some amazing people and their four-legged family members. I then relocated to Washington State with my husband and spent 9 years in Olympia. Although I really loved everything the Pacific Northwest had to offer, I knew that in my heart I was ready to come back home.
From the first moment I drove into Anthem in 2009, I knew this was where I wanted to raise my family. I fell in love with the small town atmosphere and tight community spirit that I saw every time I found an excuse to visit. I finally realized my dream early this year when my family found a house here in Anthem and opened Daisy Mountain Veterinary Hospital. My husband, Jeff, our 8 year old daughter, Hannah, and I have been welcomed into this community with open arms and know we have found our “forever home”. I look forward to becoming your other family doctor!
Dr. Marilyn Millman
I dreamed of becoming a veterinarian as a very young child and earned a Brownie Badge by helping a veterinarian when I was eight years old. Due to my love of reading as a child, the book Black Beauty, opened my eyes to seeing things from an animal’s point of view and taught me to be kind and tender towards all animals.
I first came to Arizona as a camp counselor at Orme Ranch School during the summer when I was halfway through my college studies. It was only supposed to be for the summer but I fell in love with Arizona on the very first day and quickly transferred to Arizona State by that fall. I attended the University of California School of Veterinary Medicine in Davis, California and graduated in 1984. After graduation I came right back to Arizona and have been practicing here ever since.
I moved to Anthem because my roommate from ASU moved here and after visiting her I knew I wanted to live here too. I was fortunate to find kindred spirits at Daisy Mountain Veterinary Hospital and have loved being a part of their team.
When not at work I love being with my two Yorkies, Niko and Kiddo, and my cat Angel. I have an adult daughter, Emily, who is an interior designer in Chicago. I often visit her in the big city but am always glad to get back to Anthem! I still love to read and am working on writing a novel about a veterinarian.
Dr. Rachel Hills
Rachel received her undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she majored in Wildlife and Wildlands Conservation. She has been passionate from a young age about animals and after working for several years as a wildlife/biological technician, realized that she needed a more hands-on career. She decided to pursue a childhood dream to become a veterinarian for dogs and cats and was able to receive her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 2017.
After veterinary school she knew that she wanted to live in a place with warm weather and lots of sun. Having grown up in a suburb of Los Angeles, Anthem felt close to home. Daisy Mountain Veterinary Hospital welcomed her as a new graduate and she been lucky enough to practice with excellent pets, owners, and fellow veterinarians.
Rachel is a cat-mom to two cats, Pagoda and Milo, who fill her weekends with snuggles and lots of fur. During her time off she loves to swim, hike, and play acoustic guitar.
